P90 Rewind

Well I decided to redo week 5 and continue along with the tri-training.

btw- I swam 1000m las t sun and I found a rhythm!!!

Skipped swimming thurs am to play hockey at 10 pm

I greatly reduced my weights for shoulders and triceps but half of life is showin up ... chachinga!

been reading about nutrition and most folks seem to think that supplements are bunko!- I'll have to tell my 80 yr old father in law who swears by them and just did a 4 week walking tour of the UK!!

Today was swim at 6:30 am and then plyometrics at 8pm- I've done it so many times, that I can watch a movie at the same time- hard to laugh at Owen Wilson and do squat-jumps at the same time! I figured plyo is similar to a run and I have a great run base anyway.

My runs contunue to be stellar- I carry my hands more in front of me now and have a earlier heel strike as a result. This greatly helps with any calf pain I have after my runs and gives me a different way to run which I hope will help during the tri.

wed- run-45 min / back & biceps/ab ripper x
thurs- swim 300, 10 x 100 fast- slow x 2... /bike (? snow forecast) /yoga x
fri- legs & back / ab ripper x (bike trainer)
sat- bike 90 min- black point/ casino party ( liver workout)
sun- run 40 min / swim 4x500

phew!!

Tri-Training takes over

The bad news: Well, I have only done three Horton-approved workouts since my last blogging. I love Core Synergistics- gets you burnin where it counts- right in the Molson Muscle!

The good news- I have had some of my best runs of the past five years- I can feel the additional strength and flexibility P90-X has endowed me with. My runs are 10-15 km and from 60- 80 mins.

My swimming has made rapid gains- in only two weeks I can do 1200m (4x200 warm-up, 400 steady pace) My son has been joining me and meeting a buddy at the pool makes those 6:15 wake up calls a little easier. I made a swimming weight trainer with my chin-up bar, pulleys and rope- seems to work quite well!

The cycling has been sporatic - Weather and rest have been limiting factors- I will have to wait until next month to get spinning- I am borrowing a wind trainer from a friend during Feb to get my hours up.

...And you thought the earth's core was hot!!

Three weeks down - still bringin it!

Missed yoga on New years day- general lethergy ruled otherwise all workouts accomplished and
becoming easier with more weight and reps.

Mountain biked and did a swim on Sunday - felt good but don't have a rhythm yet.

week 4: Tuesday
I was just getting used to the weekly pattern when Ol' Tony pulls the rug out with his top secret workout concept:"muscle confusion"- I think the confusion goes a bit farther north... my core was burning along with my synapses... I also know how quickly many of the seemingly impossible routines became do-able so my chattaranga running will soon be in fine form- I hope!

I started my swim training today- 100m warm up, 100 kickboard, 100 pulling with buoy, 100 back kick, 200 steady- I'll go again on Thurs

I'm going to try a run on Wed-the snow has finally melted after three weeks.
